If you have been waiting for a Christmas card from our family, keep on keepin' on. We are a bit behind this year. My plan is to have someone at church take a picture of all of us- yes, a rare siting of chubby ole me in a photo!- on Christmas morning at church with all three children present, George in his robe, and all five of us smiling, thus killing three birds with one stone -- Christmas cards, the much requested family picture, and the lately requested picture of George in his robe. And then I'll just email it out. It sounds like the sort of thing I don't like, I know, but in order to have things I do like, like extra cash, a nice party for my husband's ordination, and a pleasant visit with family from out of town, I had to forego something. That something turned out to be Christmas cards this year.
What about y'all? Have you gotten it all done? What did you have to let go of? And did it really matter? I'm sure it didn't. Like the Grinch tells us, Christmas comes just the same. And it's wondrous and magical no matter what. It is. I know that sounds like I have been watching too many Hallmark movies, which I have, but really, isn't it lovely? Even though NONE of us get a white Christmas this year (and I'd be mad if some of us were and not me, but I think even NYC will be green this year), it's truly the most wonderful time of the year. I love it. And I love each of you. I think. Unless people are reading that I don't know about. Merry Christmas, y'all! Glory to the newborn King!

Abby,
Merry Christmas! I pray for you often and was so thrilled when Rachael told me that George was being ordained. YAY!!! Please add us to your Christmas card list!! I know what you mean about avoiding the camera!! But I would love to see pics of you and your family whom we pray for but haven't met in person!! :) Also, send me your address (thewhortons@bellsouth.net) and I'll send you our card and add you to our Christmas card list, too. Incidentally, we didn't attend church on Christmas Eve or Christmas. Shameful.
So excited about George's ordination!! I am one who LOVES to get Christmas cards, but I suspect it is a tradition that is dying a slow(or maybe not so slow?) death, b/c we actually received quite a number of Christmas pic e-mails, and had a number of other friends who simply didn't send out any. Looking forward to seeing a pic of your sweet smiling faces no matter what fashion I receive it :)
